LONDON BARRISTER

6 YEARS

Six years working as a barrister in London was way more fun than it sounds.

Pauline went on a team building week and was so inspired by the outdoors and the positive results that came with the experience; she decided to have a career change.

OUTDOOR INSTRUCTOR

1 YEAR

It took one year of living, training and working in Wales for Pauline to become an outdoor instructor. It was a fabulous year and ended with the decision to take it one step further and spend the last of her savings going to Nepal to see if she could become an expedition leader for tour companies.

COMPANY DIRECTOR

4 YEARS

After 2 months of climbing mountains and kayaking the rivers in Nepal, Pauline was lucky enough to meet Gerry Moffat and Mahendra Thapa of Equator Expeditions. They ran a rafting company and after some discussion Pauline agreed to come back and join their office team in Kathmandu. Things developed and the next season saw the company expand to trekking, mountaineering and travel. The success of the partnership continued for four years. Pauline lived and worked with Mahendra and his family and learnt lessons and had experiences that will stay with her for the rest of her life. It is great being the boss…………..when it is going well!

After four years, love and marriage to Phil, brought Pauline back to the UK, where she worked with a team building company in the Lake District.

DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

5 YEARS

Pauline joined the sales team and would often get involved in the delivery of the events too. This is where Pauline became really interested in the mental tool kits available for individuals and teams. It was also where she fell in love properly with the Lake District.

MARKETING

5 YEARS

Pauline worked for 5 years at Glenmore Lodge, Scotland’s National Outdoor Training CentreIt was a superb environment to work in and flexible enough to allow her and her husband to go off for months at a time on various expeditions and adventures. One of them was EVERESTMAX.

SPEAKER

Pauline is currently living in the Lake District. When she is not motivating and inspiring delegates all around Europe, she is off with her husband having adventures in the hills and cafes of the World!

FOOTSTEPS 55 EXPEDITION 2024

In the footsteps of the first female expedition to the Himalayas in 1955 by 3 amazing Scottish climbers, Pauline and a team of female mountaineering friends followed in their footsteps 69 years later in 2024. This area did not have another mountaineering expedition until 2019 and remains remote and as yet undeveloped. The area is the Jugal Mountains in Nepal.

The goal was to summit a new peak, explore potential for ski touring and last but not least help to promote this area for trekkers and mountaineers with a focus on benefiting the local communities and promoting best environmental practice. It is a stunning part of the Himalayas. The surrounding communities will benefit directly from adventure tourism and all the benefits if investment that comes with it.

Our expedition was an amazing success. The first to explore the area on skis, no first ascent but we all came back with stronger friendships having made some serious decisions about safety and fulfilling a promise to explore ways to create positive adventure tourism for the Jugal municipality. SUCCESS!

We made a film which again will help to promote the area, the community needs and environmental best practice in the mountains.

EVERESTMAX

The Story

The story itself is about a team of 7 completing the 5000 mile cycle ride from the Dead Sea in Jordan to Mt Everest, where we swapped bikes for climbing gear and summited  the great mountain herself. We even got a Guiness World Record!

It is an unbelievably positive story about a journey through the Middle East and Asia by bike and on foot. It proves that human nature is overwhelmingly good and should not be judged by countries politics or religious leaders. We cycled through Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal and Tibet. Rarely a day went by when we were not uplifted by unconditional generosity, kindness and humour. Mt Everest did not disappoint in terms of comradely and positive mountain spirit either. I love our world and that is why I love sharing this story. Let’s celebrate the good and the great.

The  presentation is a mixture of videos, photos and anecdotes. I want to share the lessons from this journey.  As a team we thrived through adversity just as much as opportunity. As an individual I reflect on everything from getting to the start line to sharing the joy and pain along the way. I don’t have all the answers but I believe each person is responsible for themselves and how they effect those around them. Project what you want to see from others. Life is a mirror. Enjoy the journey and the goal is inevitably more achievable.
